I keep asking myself what else might have happened tonight. Certainly there was the potential for the obvious but that was not my primary concern. The other was more important and I failed at even that. Okuni's obviously as intrigued by me as I am by her. There is something keeping us apart though and I have no idea what it is.

It's not Carina; I won't let myself think it's that. Besides there's no way Carina would want me to keep myself celibate on her account, she certainly would not be doing it for me. The knowledge that she is probably gone only further mitigates against my continuing on a path of holding myself for her in any case.

There are rumblings about here that I can't quite read. Rumblings about something going down and I'm uncertain as to whether there is any chance of instituting my plans. If I reveal what I know about who I might be too soon it could precipitate a disaster. I could possibly contact Lulu but there are potential dangers to that course.

There've also been some reports of increased volcanic activity that may put us at risk of major eruptions here. My experiences of the last half year were harrowing enough and now I find myself, by choice, sitting in the middle of three volcanoes. I wonder if another location might be preferable. If I make that decision I may also contemplate who else might be persuaded to come with me.

I sometimes wonder if even I know my innermost desires. Ambition can be a lightening rod to draw one's inner potentialities into a bolt of activity that bursts out to grasp triumph or it can be a curse that trips us up and takes us down. One's unrealistic hopes in pursuit of a desire, that was not even considered worth dreaming about as the pinnacle was so out of reach, are now plausibly attainable. It may even become exceedingly advantageous to those who would not even have considered it merely a short time ago.

Will the secret be an eventual conduit to the ultimate goal?

I spent a pleasant afternoon and early evening yesterday with Okuni. A walk on the beach, then coffee and cannoli. Our conversation ranged over many things that reflect our views on life I think.

We've made tentative plans to attend one of the theatrical productions in the main piazza that are part of the Sagre delle Zeppole to New Year's Eve festival. I shall call her with the possibilities tomorrow. We have a choice of Alessandro Manzoni's Adelchi, Carlo Gozzi's Turandot, or Filumena Marturano.

Then this afternoon I spoke to Lulu and we decided to meet at a coffee shop. She's had a bad last day or two.

It will indeed be an interesting experience getting to know two women better at the same time. If Carina should join me, things would become even more interesting. This situation is more reflective of her style than mine and I wonder what wil be her reaction to my situation.

Also in the last day or so I've run across Roger again. He seems to be in need of some assistance but I am not certain there is anything I can do to help him right now.

An overture from Okuni, she's asked to meet with me. This could be an interesting diversion or much more in so many different ways. There are hints of a connection to the Vescovo. Is there potential for that to lead anywhere? We shall see. Who knows what other connections she may have, or what is her overall purpose for her interest.

So I've suggested a walk on the beach. It will be interesting to see if she enjoys walking along the beach on a cool cloudy day when it's threatening to rain like I do. Sharing one's small pleasures with a beautiful young woman can lead to so many possibilities.

What other motives might either of us choose to follow up on?

I shared a wonderful evening last night with two lovely young ladies Okuni and Lulu. Vibes of interest coming off both, yet it was so civilized. The mark of true professionals neither threatened by the other. Hmm...both together, is that redundant? Ha I've made a small joke haven't I? Both together might be an interesting time.

The young woman I sparred with earlier, Kiyone. Another interesting experience.

Then there was the little one concerned about wrapping presents. One wonders if such innocence is feigned, but what could be the motive? The even younger man, boy really, playing about her like the moth around the flame. One wonders about young love sometimes. At his age though love doesn't often have much to do with it. Oh Zaki, he reminded me a bit of you. If only we could be together again. 

A very fruitful day. The young Japanese man, Ken Hidaka does not fully understand who it is he might befriend. No matter though, he will understand soon enough. There is much I could teach him and he seems like he would be eager to learn.

The other now, Roger. This one bears a little more careful watching, but we have not yet really finished our conversation. We shall see.
